Maternal Cell Contamination Test
Overview
The presence of maternally derived cells associated with prenatal sampling procedures such as chorionic villus (CVS) or amniotic fluid (AF) poses a risk for prenatal misdiagnosis. Maternal cell contamination studies (MCC) are performed in the prenatal testing arena to ensure the fetally derived sample is not compromised by maternal cells.
