The VCGS/MCRI Sequencing Service and Development Platform is your new one stop shop for anything 'sequencing' related.

The platform performs NGS as well as Sanger sequencing services, and provides development support for NGS-related sample QCs, library preparation, and sequencing.

We are equipped with a variety of different sequencers - ABI 3730 (Sanger), Illumina HiSeq4000, Illumina NextSeq500, Illumina MiSeq - as well as ancillary instrumentation for sequencing library quantification and quality control (Bioanalyzer, TapeStation, Qubit, etc).

Sanger Sequencing Service Options

Service options provided:

  • Purified DNA pre-mixed with primer: Submission of purified PCR products or plasmid DNA pre-mixed with one primer. The service provided will include running of the BigDye® Terminator v3.1 reaction, BigDye® clean up, as well as capillary separation on our ABI 3730 instrument.
  • BigDye® clean up and capillary separation: Submission of non-purified BigDye® reactions in 10 or 20 ul volume. The service will include BigDye® clean up and capillary separation on our ABI 3730 instrument.
  • Capillary separation only: Submission of purified and dried samples ready for capillary separation. The service will include capillary separation on our ABI 3730 instrument only.

Acceptance criteria for Purified DNA pre-mixed with primer samples:
Purified DNA (for template input amounts please see table below) and primer (Primer quantity: 10pmol (0.8 pmol/ul) or 1 ul of a 10 uM primer dilution) have to be submitted in a total volume of 15 ul. Please use nuclease-free water if your DNA plus primer volume is less than 15 ul.

Next Generation Sequencing Services

The MCRI/VCGS Sequencing Service and Development Platform offers a diverse portfolio of routine Next-Generation Sequencing assays as a full service (including sample QCs, library preparation, library QC, and sequencing; but EXCLUDING bioinformatics). These include but are not limited to: Whole Exome Sequencing, Whole Genome Sequencing, RNAseq, ChIPseq (starting with your pull down DNA) and amplicon based assays (eg. 16S rRNA).

We are also offering custom assay design for your specific research needs on a collaborative basis.

Please ensure to contact us during the early planning stages of your project, as we can provide assistance on optimal project design.
